MUMBAI: One person has been arrested for firing at Nalasopara builder Pawan Bidlan on October 16.
Javed Ansari (32) has been arrested by the Nalasopara police after Bidlan allegedly named him in his statement to the police.
Bidlan (32) told the police that Ansari had come on a motorbike and shot at him in the abdomen while the former was having tea at a stall in the Shalibadra apartment area in Nalasopara (east) at around 8.45 pm.
Ansari has been arrested under section 307 (attempt to murder) and under the Arms Act. He has been remanded to police custody by the Vasai sessions court.
The police have not yet arrived at the motive behind the shooting. Ansari is believed to have given the name of another person who aided in the crime.
Ansari told the police that while he shot the bullets the instructions were given by another person who was waiting in a four-wheeler parked near the crime spot. The police have still to ascertain his claims.
