PUNE: The district administration has issued 3,700 notices to builders and societies directing them to submit documents regarding their buildings.

Nearly 150 teams have been deployed in 600 villages to survey the buildings. Till Thursday, 54,304 buildings had been surveyed. A total of 7,035 buildings were found to have all relevant documents, but in the remaining cases, residents did not have proper documents. The administration will be issuing notices in these cases seeking the additional documents from builders and societies. An official said about 4,200 notices have been prepared.

"The survey is underway. The teams are collecting data of every building that was built after 2009. Checking has been completed in Keshavnagar and Mundhwa areas in Pune and another four villages in Pimpri Chinchwad. Some 3,900 establishments were checked in these villages," the official said.

Building-to-building survey is still on in the fringe areas, which are out of the jurisdiction of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad municipal corporations. The teams are collecting the data which will enable the administration to categorize legal and illegal buildings, he said.

The survey was taken up by the administration after the collapse of a five storied building in Narhe in November killing one person. The administration has deployed a team of three tehsildars to monitor the work of issuing notices and scrutinizing replies received to these notices.

The district administration has directed builders and contractors to put up boards outside construction sites giving details of builders, the plan of construction and details of the site engineer. Moreover, the sub-registrars offices in the city and rural areas as well as the tehsil and circle offices of revenue department have been told to display boards on various checks buyers have to do before buying a property.

Meanwhile, the administration has sought additional manpower from the state government to look into illegal constructions.
