JAIPUR: Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Taradatt on Sunday reached Dharmasala tehsil in the district to probe the land scam and verified several documents in this regard.
Taradatt went around the land of Paradip Port near Haridaspur railway station and the encroached area of Sarei hill. Later, he visited Anjira hill and reviewed the illegal encroachment of forest land. He directed the district administration to take immediate steps for eviction of encroachers from Government land in Anjira and Mahulakholi villages and demolition of a house constructed on Government land by one Baya Sahu.
Taradatt interacted with the villagers of Anjira and Mahulakholi over the land scam. Later, he went around the Dankari hill area and found illegal operation of crushers and stone quarry units there.
Prior to Dharmasala, he visited the area under Darpana tehsil where land had been allegedly acquired by the ruling party leaders and found illegal transport of laterite stones from hundreds of acres of Government land in Bairi and Soloro areas under the tehsil. He directed the district administration to take action against the illegal explorers and transporters of laterite stones and operators of unauthorised mining of minerals.
Taradatt also went around the proposed land for oil conservation unit under Darpana tehsil. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has announced an investment of `3,800 crore to develop a strategic petroleum reserve in Odisha. The strategic petroleum reserve will come up near Chandikhole. The Ministry has requested the State Government to allot 400 acres of land for the purpose.
Taradatt was accompanied by Collector Anil Kumar Samal, Sub-Collector Maheswar Panigrahi, Dharmasala Tehsildar Ranjan Kumar Jena and district Revenue and Forest officials.
