Bengaluru: A leading real estate firm and five individuals have encroached upon 102.37 acres of government land in survey numbers 3 and 13 at Navaratna Agrahara near Kempegowda International Airport.

This is in addition to 65.02 acres of alleged encroachment by minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and his family members in the same survey numbers.

Social activist S R Hiremath on Tuesday said that while the Lokayukta police was inquiring into the encroachment by the minister and his family, the State government can at least take immediate action against the other encroachers. The tahshildar’s list names Prestige Group (35 acres) as the other largest encroacher.

“The lands in survey number 3 and 13 are still gomala land. Dinesh Gundu Rao should be dropped from the ministry since it has been established by the tahshildar’s report that he was in illegal possession of government land.

"At the same time it is the duty of the government to take up criminal proceedings against the other encroachers. The list includes Prestige Group and one brigadier R Lokranjan who has allegedly encroached 16.30 acres of land,” he said.

In the report dated September 11, 2014, tahshildar Bengaluru (North) has stated that 18 people had encroached upon a 167.39 acres of gomala land in survey number 3 and 13.

Prestige Group has allegedly encroached 34.23 acres in one place and 1.22 acres at a different location, both in survey number 13. The other people who have allegedly encroached gomala land are: A P Krishnappa (36 guntas), Channappa (35 guntas), A Ananthappa (4.16 acres), Susheelamma (1.35 acres), Krishnaraju (6 acres), Ravishankar (5 acres), Naragaraj Narasimhamurthy (2.10 acres) and S R Nayak (28.22 acres).

Hiremath saids Dinesh and his family members were directed to clear encroachments in 10.09 acres in July 2011.

“The tahshildar's report submitted to Lokayukta police stated that the land was restored to the government in July 2014. This shows that Dinesh had not only encroached on the government land but restricted eviction process for three years using his clout as a minister.

The special DC's orders passed in 2012 and 2013, giving him a clean chit, are illegal since the state government has directed special DC's not to exercise the powers under Section 136 (3) of Karnataka Land Revenue Act, to take up revision petition.
