NEW DELHI: Ahead of the assembly polls, BJP is going all out to woo voters in unauthorized colonies. It has already started projecting the Centre's recent decision on regularization of such colonies as a major achievement of the Narendra Modi government

This latest move by the BJP government, sources say, will impact the election outcome of 29 assembly constituencies, which comprises a large number of unauthorized colonies.

BJP has launched an ad campaign on radio and put up hoardings across Delhi, informing people about the "historic" decision taken by the government. The party is going to launch 28 vans on Friday to start poll campaign in colonies. These vans are fitted with LED screens and loudspeakers.

"These vehicles will be used for campaigning in unauthorized colonies, resettlement colonies and other areas. The idea is to tell people about the achievements of our government in the past seven months. It will screen short films about key decisions taken by our government. The decision to regularize unauthorized colonies is a historic one, which will benefit lakhs of people,'' said Satish Upadhyay, Delhi BJP chief.

The party plans to increase the number of these vans in the coming days. "At present, we will deploy four vehicles in each parliamentary constituency. These will also be used for informing people about PM Modi's rally on January 10. We will also launch 'Modi rath', which will be slightly bigger in size, in the coming week,'' said Praveen Shankar Kapoor, media convener, Delhi BJP.

Recently, the party carried out a survey in assembly constituencies with a large number of unauthorized colonies. Sources say the survey found that the Centre's decision on unauthorized colonies has had a strong impact on voters. "The survey says 70% believe that the Modi government will fulfil its promise of regularization and 65% people said it would influence their decision to vote in favour of BJP,'' said a BJP member.
