PUNE: The report prepared by the planning committee on the development plan for old city areas will be made public after it is presented to the civic general body (GB), mayor Dattatraya Dhankawade said on Wednesday.
Corporators from BJP, Shiv Sena and MNS had written to the municipal commissioner and municipal secretary, demanding that the report should not be kept sealed. Citizens' organisations had also demanded that the report be made public. The report is expected to be submitted to the state government soon.
"As per our information, the document can be made available to citizens after it is presented before the GB. We will check with the legal department. Once we get their approval, we will upload the report on the PMC website," he told reporters.
A special meeting of elected representatives to discuss the report is scheduled to be held on Friday.
Deputy mayor Aba Bagul, however, has said, "We received the report on Wednesday morning. It is a long report and we will need time to read it. The civic body should not hurriedly organise the meeting to discuss it."
The PMC published the draft development plan for old city areas on March 28, 2013. In February last year, the state government announced the members of the planning committee that will hear objections and suggestions regarding the plan.
The committee started accepting views from citizens from March 2014. It heard over 87,000 suggestions and objections submitted by citizens and non-governmental organisations.
