The members of Upakula Jami Jungle Surakshya Samiti have sought three days  from the district administration to give their considered opinion over the fencing of government land in Sipasarubali mouza under Brahmagiri tehsil.

A meeting was organised between the members and the district administration over the 1,307 acres of land on Tuesday. Ever since the State Government had  wrested the land from a family in November last year, villagers in the area had been demanding settlement of land in their favour.

The government had reportedly allocated the land to a hotel industry under the Samukha beach project, the most ambitious tourism venture.

The Government had asked the local administration to fence the area to prevent further encroachment which was protested by villagers twice this month.  Sub-Collector Udhav Charan Majhi, the Tehsildars and the BDOs of Puri and Brahmagiri attended the meeting.
