Dehradun: With an objective of tightening the noose around land mafia, the state government has set up a specialized force to look into illegal land dealings in the Garhwal range. Through this force, the authorities will try and keep a tab on criminal activities in sale and purchase of land and will help people being exploited by land mafia.
DIG (Garhwal range) Sanjay Gunjyal said, "A special investigation team comprising 22 policemen has been set up and it will be headed by an inspector rank officer."
'Were soon we will hold sessions with experts who will educate our officers about how to deal with property-related matters," Gunjyal. The first session is expected to be held next week. "This team will be of immense help in checking matters of illegal sale and purchase of lands by agents."
Expressing concern over the increase in crime graph in Dehradun and adjoining areas, Gunjyal also backed the need to strengthen the traditional policing style while improving the network of informers.
