NOIDA: The UP government is planning a branding exercise for the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida to draw investment at the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2015 in Gandhinagar from January 7 to 9.

Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will address NRIs at the jamboree on January 9. Akhilesh will also personally oversee preparations for the event organized by the Union ministry of overseas Indian affairs.

As part of the project, several officers drawn from the three development authorities — Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway — will be deputed in Gujarat during the event. A delegation, led by the chairman of the three Authorities, Rama Raman, will highlight the three cities and their scope for investment opportunities.

Yamuna Expressway authority CEO P C Gupta, Noida officer Vijay Yadav, as well as Greater Noida additional CEO Manvender Singh and senior officer Yogendra Sinha will be present at the event.

UP is a partner state at this year's event, organized every year to mark the contribution of the overseas Indians in the country's development. It was on January 9, 1915, that Mahatma Gandhi had returned to India from South Africa to lead India's freedom struggle against the British.

Raman said glimpses of the three cities' hi-tech infrastructure will be highlighted in audio visual displays at the state pavilion at the event. "The cities are loaded with world-class infrastructure, including the Metro, flyovers, the Noida-Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressways, the F1 track, etc," said Raman, adding that in his January 9 speech, Akhilesh will woo possible NRI investors by highlighting investment opportunities in the state.

Raman said Noida and Greater Noida will be promoted as India's first smart cities, loaded with world-class infrastructure. "Noida and Greater Noida Authorities have achieved 70 smart-city parameters. Both will soon become India's first sustainable cities as well," he said, adding this belt is also a real estate hub, offering both affordable and luxury options.

"We offer 152 online e-governance services in Noida. Any tender above Rs 10 lakh is an e-tender. In the transport sector, Noida already has Metro, and links with Greater Noida will follow soon. We are about to launch city bus services in both Noida and Greater Noida," Raman said.
